The Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham released a video showing the execution of American journalist James Foley, who was abducted in Syria in 2012.
According to the Washington Post, James Foley was heading to the Turkish border with a translator when they made a stop at an Internet cafe in Binnish, in Syria’s Idlib province, on November 22, 2012.
After they left the cafe, they flagged down a taxi to take them to the border. Somewhere along the way, an organized gang of militants intercepted the taxi and extricated Foley and the translator at gunpoint, according to the FBI. The translator was later released, but Foley was held captive for nearly two years.
ISIS has threatened the life of another abducted American journalist, Steven Joel Sotloff, who was kidnapped in August 2013, if U.S. President Barack Obama does not stop airstrikes in Iraq, the Washington Post and NBC News reported.
